Listening Sessions 001 Release Party: Dusk & Blackdown – 22/09/17
Our mission is to encourage collaboration, development, and diversity within the electronic music community here in Birmingham. The grass roots community spirit nurtured by our work over the years has resulted in a number of signings to both local, national and international record labels. Now the journey continues as we open a new chapter with the start of our music label to share the wealth of talent from within this community with the rest of the world! The inaugural release, “Contortion/Exoskeleton + Remixes” by Listening Sessions family member Yilan has just been released and is enjoying support on leading UK radio stations such as Rinse FM,Radar Radio and NTS Radio.
[LS001] Yilan – Contortion / Exoskeleton + Remixes
DUSK & BLACKDOWN
It’s a real blessing to have their support as one of the earliest supporters of the music featured in LS001 with regular plays on their radio show on Rinse FM. Dusk & Blackdown have been supporting the release since its early stages and its a testament to our commitment to support the sound of the electronic underground being made in our city having these pioneers of the UKs underground music scene backing our community. Through their pioneering label Keysound Recordings they have helped to pioneer Grime, Dubstep, UK Funky, Techno/Bass mutations and all the of those sounds that have yet to be categorised under a genre coming out of this island since 2005.

Yilan has just graced our new label with an incredible first release and he will be teaming up again with Wooda for another legendary back to back set. These two have been part of the Listening Sessions movement from the beginning and we are extremely proud to be able to have their music as part of LS001. With roots in Techno, Dubstep and styles that have no name, it’s going to get dark!
